Title: Anson Museum wins national recognition
The Anson Engine Museum has been Highly Commended for its Diesel Exhibition at this year's prestigious National Heritage awards. One of East Cheshire's real hidden little gems, the museum was up against many of the heritage industry's biggest and best funded attractions.

The Anson Engine Museum's successful entry was based on the Diesel Exhibition the museum run over the summer of 2008. It was shortlisted for both the Classic Award and for the Project on a Limited Budget. This is a real achievement for a museum which employs only one person and relies otherwise on the enthusiasm and dedication of its team of volunteers.

The Tatton Park Biennial 2008 was also shortlisted.

In their seventh year, these major industry awards recognise the diversity and excellence of work produced within the museums and heritage sector.  The awards are described as an unparalleled opportunity to celebrate the wealth of expertise and innovation in this industry. They spotlight the truly exceptional work that goes into creating world-class visitor attractions, providing recognition to operators and suppliers that is much deserved and long overdue.
