Every second Sunday of the month from 9am to 1pm and held at the Festival Hall, Alderley Edge, SK9 7EU, the Alderley Edge Farmers Market has been providing locally grown and made produce for over a decade. With over 30 of the finest producers from around the region.

Before food miles, before free range chickens, before having 5 a day became headlines, Alderley's Farmers market has been providing the best foods made with the finest ingredients. It's not just for farmers though. Handmade goods from cupcakes to chutneys, soaps to sausages all qualify for FARMA certification and are all at Alderley Edge's Farmers Market.

It's come a long way since the 90s. The first market was held whilst the foot and mouth crisis was in full swing in 1998 and was a way of helping local farmers. They had to lay down disinfected mats and straw for cars and customers to drive and walk over. But that didn't dampen spirits.

Martin Bell was our MP and came to open the inaugural event. Balloons were released, music was played, and customers flocked in to see this new phenomenon. Still popular and with many of the same faces both sides of the counter the Alderley Edge farmers market is going from strength to strength.

Thanks to a teams of helpers from The Christie, the best foods to fight against cancer aren't cranberries, purple tomatoes or pomegranate but anything from cream cakes to chops, in fact whatever you fancy from the Alderley Edge market. With well over £Â£10,000 raised to help with cancer treatment, prevention and cure our customers can be proud of the contribution they have made to such a worthwhile cause.
