Seasonal highlights
The countryside of East Cheshire is beautiful enough to rival the most spectacular gardens and each new season brings different delights. Explore our SSSIs, National Trust countryside properties and the Peak District National Park.
Winter
Morning frost and wintery sunshine create magical scenes across Macclesfield Forest, the perfect setting for winter walks and cosy pub lunches.
Spring
Wood anemonies, blubells and wild garlic take over Poynton Coppice and Styal Woods. Rare mountain pansies appear on Tegg's Nose Country Park.
Early summer
Don't miss Hare Hill's spectacular azaleas. Dragonflies dart around Lindow Common SSSI. The native wild flowers typical of low nutrient soils at Jackson's Brickworks attract butterflkies, insects and birds galore.
Late summer
Spectacular heather covers Lindow Common SSSI.
Autumn
Beech trees are ablaze with colour at Styal Woods and on Alderley Edge (both National Trust properties).
